When the spade finally made it to the edge of the
pavement, mats were placed across the road and for about 80 feet on
the other side of the road. Enough mats were placed to get the spade
across the road and completely off of the pavement.
Stopping in the middle to position more mats could
have destroyed the road's surface, but by having enough mats laid
out... the spade was able to cross without stopping. |
